Exercise is key to better health! We all know this. You don’t have to go to the gym to get a great workout!
Dancing can give you a great mind-body workout. It can be magical and transforming. It builds your self confidence and uses muscles you didn’t know you had. Whatever type of dancing you choose…go for it and have some fun while you’re getting some great exercise!! Please check with your GP before beginning any strenuous activity.
Dance is a weight-bearing
activity which builds bones.
It’s also fabulous for your
upper body and endurance.
The amount of calories you
burn ballroom dancing will
depend on how vigorously
you dance. Ballroom and
Latin dance can be relaxed
or as athletic as in
DanceSport.
Ballroom dancing works the
backs of the thighs and buttock muscles differently from many other types of exercise.
Dance challenges your mind as well as your muscles. You have to focus on what you’re doing which encourages sharper brain function. There is a reduced risk of dementia, up to 76% less if you dance three times per week compared with those who rarely or never danced. (See video link below).
Like other moderate, low-impact, weight bearing activities, such as brisk walking, cycling or aerobics, dancing can help:
-
strengthen bones and muscles without hurting your joints
-
tone your entire body
-
improve your posture and balance
-
increase your stamina and flexibility
-
reduce stress and tension
-
build confidence
-
provide opportunities to meet people
-
renew neural connections in the brain
-
ward off illnesses like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, osteoporosis, and depression
So if you’re tired of that treadmill…why not get started?
GET DANCING for HEALTH!!!
Dance is for everyone no matter what age or part of the world you come from. It is a most sociable way to get fit while enjoying yourself.
Our emphasis is on looking good on the dance floor.
Make friends while learning coordination skills keeping the brain and the body agile in the best physical art form.
We encourage absolute beginners the ones with 2 left feet, who are often surprised at how quickly they can progress with the right approach.
We start beginners with the most popular social style of ballroom dances. When confident in these, we introduce standard ballroom as danced competitively throughout the world.
Our Latin classes follow on from the ballroom session at the same level to enable both styles to be danced.
Our intermediate ballroom class caters for those who are experienced and wish to learn more advanced figures and combinations, and improve technique to a high standard.
It's STRICTLY FUN !
